Crowfoot Tugby/Hoby/Skeffington
« on: Thursday 29 January 15 08:59 GMT (UK) »
Hoping someone may have access to the Tugby, Hoby or Skeffington parish registers and be able to help with a look up!  I'm researching a branch of my Crowfoot family originally from Norfolk and they moved around Leicestershire quite a bit.   Judging by information from censuses they lived in Tugby from 1861-1871, Hoby in 1872, either Hoby or Skeffington from 1871 until 1881, and in Skeffington in 1881.

I'd be really interested in the baptisms or burials of any children of Robert and Sarah Crowfoot (sometimes misspelt as Crawfoot or Crawford) and the burial of Sarah which would have taken place in 1879.  I am also struggling to find a marriage between Robert and Sarah in the civil registration index, and am hoping it might be in the parish registers but have been not recorded centrally for some reason.  It would have taken place around 1866.

Any help greatly appreciated - I live in Yorkshire so can't look at the registers myself!  Thanks in advance for any assistance :)

No names, birthplaces or birthyears given for the children?  No deathyears etc.  If females - did they marry as any burial would be in their married names.

and the burial of Sarah which would have taken place in 1879.

No details given of age or quarter in which she died

She was Sarah Jane - not just Sarah and her death was registered in the September qtr 1879 aged 32

Do you have a birth cert for one of the children showing Sarah's maiden name?

Many thanks Willsy for those, much appreciated :)

Sorry Carole I should have been more specific, was in a rush when I typed that message!  I meant the Crowfoot name is from Norfolk, and with burials I was referring to any infant children who died between censuses, not married elder daughters, around the 1861-1881 period I knew the family was around this area.

I think getting the birth certificate for one of the children will certainly be the next step as identifying the maiden name will help with finding a marriage.

Many thanks :)

Hi Rebeccaclaire

Don't know if you're still looking but if robert was born Kirby cane Norfolk, I have him on my hartshorn family tree. James married a Sarah hartshorn. I also see that on 1881 census he is living in skeffington, and I have family there about that time.

Regards

Jonathan
