Thanks Margp.....duly noted, now in the stash.
I am in fact looking extremely closely at the JWC/Harper connection as posted by david earlier.
Following birth trail from this union and being brought to an abrupt halt at Walter b 1918, I was ready to put this in my stash for later - when another kind post highlighted a connection for me with the name CORDING, Arthur Cording being a witness at dorothy's wedding.

This appears to be a thoroughly tangled web and may take a deal of untangling, but at the end of it - I sincerely hope that we find a connection to the birth of "dorothy caldecott" - be it by another name or whatever.

Thanks all - for your continued help.

Cheers margp

Is this the correct Dorothy though, with Henney's death recorded in Manchester and this one Surrey?
If Dorothy was widowed in 2000 she may have gone to live with one of her children?

It seems that at some stage, the bullet must be bitten & a certificate or two obtained, if only to eliminate some of the theories.

Florrie and Dorothy Caldecott (sisters) were married to my uncles Arthur Cording and Henney Brammer. Dorothy was born on 28 Mar 1920. She married my Uncle Henney in 1948.  They divorced in the 1960s and she married William Patrick (Billy) Donohue in 1972 in Bury. Dorothy died in about 2001.

Alan

Based on the new information that Chris has provided the information we exchanged re the marriage of Florence Caldecott and R E Cording would appear to be wrong.

I have seen a possible birth for Florrie in 1919 and Dorothy in 1920 however they appear to have different mothers  ???

Births Mar 1920
Caldicott    Dorothy C    Acford    Meriden 6d   1475

Births Jun 1919
Caldicott    Florrie    Brookes    Birmingham   6d   330

I have chosen that Dorothy going by what Chris says about her remarrying a Mr Donohue. There is a Dorothy Caroline A Donohue that dies in 2001 in Rugby. the problem is the death registration says she was born 4  May 1914 - but that could be wrong
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.
