I found this heading on an index on the Canterbury archives. Also on the list was a defamation suit by Elizabeth Thompson wife of Andrew filed in 1740. I am assuming the penance had something to do with the suit.
Also found a reference to Old Henry Pascall, Treasurer, Old Kindness and John Earle being reinstated by the Trinity House Pilots in 1739 to their great joy. Big family of Pascalls with several Henrys. Looking for more info. I am overseas so limited Thanks for your interest LizR
