Good morning....not a good night though - had a leak from the loft through the ceiling of a bedroom. Plumber [I like to stick to one I trust] can't come till tonight or even tomorrow. Mains water off - still I've got 3 water butts full of rain water & snow to melt if desperate  ;D.

I found the John [William] Hayter mentioned in the will
1851 HO107/1486/631/8 upholsterer aged 20 born Sunninghill [transcribed as Saunderton on ancestry]. Do you think James mentioned his siblings in birth order? If so, how enlightened  ;).

A burial of a John William Hayter aged 27 of Pied Bull Yard, Bloomsbury on 1 Aug 1858  in Hackney  ?a possibility. No corresponding freebmd death. Several other John Hayter deaths in London though up to 1899.

This is my theory for children:
James Samuel 1819 [died 1850]
Catherine ca 1820 [she died 1865]
Hannah Ellen ca 1825 [died 1894]
Henrietta Sarah ca 1826 [poss died 1894]
Richard Ansell
John William ca 1829
ages from censuses

Good morning :) sorry to hear you had problems overnight, did you have more snow? we only had a very light smattering here in Lincs.

It does look as though James Samuel named his siblings in order of age, that is so thoughtful of him. :D Am I right in thinking Henrietta was the only one to have a child that lived into adult hood. ???

There are a few mentions of Richard Ansell on Papers Past, nothing very informative about his life as to marriage or children but there is one advert where he has a pregnant Sow for sale imported from Berkshire in 1859. ;D No luck finding him on any shipping lists though. :-\

In W Yorkshire we've still got snow lying from last Wednesday! Also had to take cat to vet this am with huge abscess in his neck - £53 later/lighter! It's only 6 wks since he had his last £53 fight. I think there is a newcomer in his territory.

I haven't listed them yet but Catherine had Turberville children.  Am on the case now. Interestingly, in 1861 they lived in Museum St Bloomsbury - where the John William Hayter died 1858 lived...

I have put a post on the NZ board to see if anything can be discovered about Richard Ansell. Thanks for looking in the papers. I wonder if he & Henrietta went to NZ on the proceeds of James Samuel''s will? Neither of them seem to be in England for the 1851 census.

I bet the pregnant sow did not enjoy that voyage  :o

Oh, hope your pussy cat makes a full recovery, bless. :) I wonder if that sow was pregnant before she left Berks.. ;D

I had forgotten about the Turberville children, they sound like something out of Sherlock Holmes. ;) Funny thing, I have just found the christenings for Franklin William & Kate in St George Bloomsbury 1868 & their abode is still Museum Street. ??? So if both parents had died, how come. :o

Just spotted a tree on Ancestry for them also.

It seems all the men connected to the Hayter family liked the pub trade. ;D I have only just caught up with your thread on Jack Straws Castle, ho ho, now that was a "den of iniquity" up there on "ampsted eaf" in the late 60s. I speak from experience, only once though. :o ;D

Good thinking putting a post on the NZ board.

Hi

.... Josey if you look at your thread on the New Zealand board you'll see I've posted info re: the arrival (1851) in Canterbury, NZ, of Richard HAYTER and his sister, Henrietta.
