Look up request, 1841 census Lancashire

It's very easy to get mixed up with names and census years, isn't it!

It is possible that Thomas was only visiting in 1851.
Unfortunately, the name is seen a lot so finding Thomas, a tailor in 1841 and 1851 could be quite a task, or indeed a new marriage for him.

I meant young Thomas may only have been visiting his aunt in 1851, not that it makes any difference. It is frustrating that they are missing in 1841.

 Thos Roberts, tailor, 35 married to a Jane 25, both born out of county residing Batchlor St.

I found a marriage at St Nicholas Liverpool 24 May 1840
Thomas Roberts, Tailor, Bachelor res Batchelor St , father Joseph also a Tailor to
Jane Vaughan Spinster, Hope St, father John Vaughan Mariner.
The obvious stumbling block is that Thomas is saying he's a bachelor.

But then on the 1851 census we have Thomas Roberts 46 Tailor born Denbighshire Wales
Jane wife 40 born Holyhead  Anglesey, Wales.

Do you know anything more about Caroline Foster?
Did she have siblings? might Elizabeth have been living with one of them?
Looking at the marriage details for Thomas and Caroline I noticed that one of the witnesses was a Mary Ann Foster. Could possibly be a sister and worth researching.

Thomas senior, born @1811 had 3 sisters and 3 brothers that I know of. I have checked all out on the 1841 census and can find Elizabeth no-where. I can not find a marriage for May Roberts and Maria was married in 1836, after Elizabeth's Mum died.

I know nothing of Caroline Foster, or of Mary Anne who I have searched for, as a sister or mother. Both the Thomas Roberts that you mentioned were the wrong ages but I am interested in the Thomas Roberts in the 1851 census. I have missed that one but will follow it up. Thank you very much, Rolnora. Still no mention of Elizabeth, who would have been 17 in 1851. She married in Australia in 1855 but shipping records were only kept from 1852, so she may have come out earlier. What are the HO numbers that you quote?

I am very confident that Thomas Roberts who married Jane Vaughan is not my Thomas Roberts, as my Thomas' father was also Thomas, married to Elizabeth Jane UNKNOWN and they are the parents of Jane (Parry) and Maria (Whittle) and the other 3 siblings. Had my hopes up for a minute! Also the bachelor bit was a problem. There seems to be a lot of Roberts and Parrys being related in Wales. Thanks for your efforts
