Thank you for the information on Carolyn - can you send me the link please. For Thomas, I meant 1851 census, and the Maria Whittle who is there is a sister of Jane and Thomas Senior. Thomas had 6 siblings that I know of and I have tried to find them on the 1841 census to see if Elizabeth is with one of them but no luck to date and I didn't find most of them
 The siblings were;
John chris 8/3/18902
Jane
May  1/1/1806
Maria (Whittle) 1/5/1808
Isaac 3/7/1814
joseph 25/12/1817
Thanks for your efforts to date
Jason

Jason I'm a little bit confused  ???

The only 1851 census record that I could find when I was searching yesterday was for a Thomas Roberts  cousin of Robert Parry and his wife Maria. I discounted it because Thomas although born Liverpool was born c1841 and the Thomas we want was born c1831.

Am I looking at the wrong 1851 census record?

This is the one I was looking at but not sure now either - no Maria Whittle  :-\
Transcribed as Pavy but reads Parry - handwriting is difficult to decipher

1851 2187 / 103 / 22

99 Upper Mann Street
William Parry 54 yrs Sawyer b Denbighshire Millford?
Jane 46 yrs b Denbighshire Ruthin?
Thomas Roberts   nephew 19 yrs Tailor b Liverpool
John Jones    lodger 55 yrs Sawyer

Is that not him?

Ah- here is Maria Whittle  :)

1861 2701 / 12 / 19
4 John's Place

William Parry 65 yrs Sawyer b Flintshire, Whitford
Jane Parry   56 yrs b Dnbighshire, Ruthin
Thomas Roberts   visitor married 50 yrs Tailor b Ruthin
Maria Whittle visitor widow 53 yrs b Ruthin
Maria Jane Whittle visitor 13 yrs b Manchester

Jason,
You said earlier that Thomas was 'visiting his son' - is this the census you have him as a visitor?
Presumably, then he remarried. Do you have that marriage?

My mistake, Heywood, Thomas was visiting his sister Jane Parry when their other sister Maria Whittle was there. By 1861, Elizabeth was in Australia and married. Seeing one of Thomas' children had been taken in by a sibling (Jane) I am hoping to find Elizabeth with another sibling in the 1841 census or even possibly the 1851 census although she could have been in Australia by that date. I have no information about Thomas, the father, after that date. Thomas the son became a wealthy man as a tailor and property owner, and he died childless and left all his money to his sister's children.

It's very easy to get mixed up with names and census years, isn't it!

It is possible that Thomas was only visiting in 1851.
Unfortunately, the name is seen a lot so finding Thomas, a tailor in 1841 and 1851 could be quite a task, or indeed a new marriage for him.

I believe he was only visiting - a family get together with his two sisters. If Elizabeth had already gone to Australia by 1851 then I will not find her as the Shipping records don't go back that far. But if she did, she would have been 17 or younger and who did she go with? Elizabeth obviously kept in touch with her brother, as one of her daughters nursed him until his death in 1909. I am hoping that she was in England in 1841 and that I find her in that census
