There is an entry matching their details in London Clandestine Marriages but with the additon of "B" and "W".  Other entries show "B" and "Sp" or "W" and "W",  so perhaps Alice was a widow.

THese are absolutely great and THANK YOU!! I have been searching for them for ages and they do not appear to be on anything from IGI to parish records that I have seen.
I don't suppose the marriage record has \john's parents named??
I will have a look at Westminster on the IGI and see if they are there, if you have any other places to look would be very pleased, and thank you for your time, don't want to be a pest but am so excited.
Is Westminster Surrey??

Westminster is Middlesex    But I wouldn't worry too much about getting confused with the counties in London, it is Middlesex to the north of the Thames and Surrey to the South.

My IGI is a CD that I purchased from the Jesus of Latter Day Saints and it must be quite a few years old so I guess it will have been updated, also I photocopied some IGI Filby pages at the library and they too are well handled. I didn't realise they added new information but I did know that there was a lot not shown.
I will try the new site.
