Trying to find where the Parnham name comes from
« on: Friday 06 February 15 01:01 GMT (UK) »
In my Cartwright family I have Edward Parnham Cartwright, b 1802, Salmonby; and Edward Parnham Cartwright b 27 Sept 1832 Salmonby, and then Thomas Parnham Cartwright b Oct 1906, Skidbrooke.
They are all related; Thomas is the son of Peter Cartwright, whose father was Edward b 1832,  and this Edward's father was George, who was the brother of Edward b 1802.

Does anyone have any ideas?
Regards
Jan

There is no CARTWRIGHT/PARNHAM marriage in my index.

The name may have arrived from a grandparent or great-grandparent via a female line.

:)
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

Possible chance this may be the connection?

Thomas BROWN of Heckington Parish Married Mary PARNHAM of Levington Parish, 27 Nov 1718, St Margaret & St Barbara, Haceby, Lncolnshire

WM BRYAN Cartwright married Gertrude BROWN 10 Aug 1790, Spilsby

Gertrude seems to be the Daug of WILLIAM/SUSANNAH Brown, Baptised 7 Nov 1764 Little Ponton

Their Marriage is on FreeREG 15 Dec 1763 Little Ponton (Susannah NEWBOUND was a Widow)
Grooms Occp Yeoman
Grooms Abode Sturton
Grooms Parish Stowe

Burial JOHN Newbound A farmer , died 17 apr 1761 Little Ponton
John/Susnnah had 1 Daughter I can find Susannah Bapt 20 March 1761

William died Died 05 apr 1772, a farmer, no age given and Susannah 20 May 1792 (Widow of the late William)

Now I am stretching here but!

WILLIAM Brown Baptised 14 April 1739 Stowe in Lindsey, Parents WILLIAM/MARY

Hard to prove but this William maybe the Son/Grandson of THOMAS/MARY nee Parnham

My thought all along was that it was something to do with Gertrude Brown, but had not found her mother. I always try mother's maiden name or grandmother's maiden name when there pops up a second name that seems like a surname. I am also looking for a connection between the Turnells and Cartwrights or perhaps Ashtons.

Many thanks for your help
