Please, does anyone know of a TB isolation hospital that was within cycling distance of Northampton in the mid to late 1940s?

I wonder if it was the  Northampton County Sanatorium or Creation Hospital in Hollowell   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollowell

Hi Kay

Thank you very much for the suggestion and the link.   Sadly the person who gave me the original information has since died so I've no way of knowing where it was.   I was just hoping there wouldn't be too much choice!

Regards,

Diana

Hi.

Diana I think there was an isolation hospital at Kingsthorpe in Northampton around that time.

Now called Kingsthorpe Grange http://care-homes.findthebest.co.uk/l/2813/Kingsthorpe-Grange

They may have some records.

Hi Sandy

Thanks for that info.   I'll try to follow up both options and see what I can find out.

Diana I should have said that the one at Kingsthorpe was for T.B. patients.
Harborough Road Hospital

Opened in 1891 and was initially known as the Borough Hospital for Consumptives. Through those early years it was also used for a range of infectious diseases such as diphtheria, smallpox and typhoid. By the 1950s there were fewer infectious cases that required isolation and it then started to admit medical patients.

Thanks for beautiful Christmas Card and letter so I have not got back to you yet. :(
