South Africa: Natal: John Moore
« on: Saturday 07 February 15 22:02 GMT (UK) »
Hi All,

I am looking to trace a direct ancestor of mine: John Moore.

I believe he may have been part of a military family - he was in the South African Mounted Rifles.

He was born in 1877 and in 1913 married (Helene Kokkinn Ashwell) in Durban South Africa.

Helene Kokkinn Ashwell was the daughter of a English Tea Planter (Charles
Ashwell, of Fawsley, Kearsney, Natal) and a Norwegian missionary (Helene
Charlotte Kokkin Svenningsen).

I have no record of his death except that his wife remarried as a widow in 1943 in Natal.

Kind regards
TJ Moore

thanks - I think his last son was born 1921.

He may have been part of Kitcheners Fighting Scouts - I found this:

Yes please, I understand that John Moore originated from Dublin with the Royal Dublin fusiliers. Hence his military background. I would love any information you have on him and his relationship to Moreen. Many thanks. Tj
