Hi all, need some kind soul to help with a marriage look-up on Scotlands People.

Can pay your costs by paypal, only want one look-up so trying to avoid paying £7 for it.

Will be grateful if anyone can help & provide details in private message as marriage is recent .

Hi TonyR,

You can only get details of marriage online, if it is 75 years ago. There is an index which will give you both bride and groom's names, but no other details.

              Why don't you post and see if any one can do a look up for you at NRH or Mitchell Library.
Sorry I can't help as I have no plans to go anytime soon.

If it's recent then it's likely the couple might still be alive,so their names must not be posted here.

Hi all, thanks for the replies.

Yes it's a recent marriage, around 1996.  I only have bride's name and a guess for grooms.

A 'free' search on Scotlands People pulled up 2 results & that's when I thought £7 for to look at these results was a bit much.

So, if anyone has one credit spare for SP I would appreciate help.  As I said I can paypal your costs.

Hi Tony,

Marriage less than 75 years ago cannot be viewed by using the credits on SP - for privacy reason protecting the potentially living people.
You would need through the site to actually order the certs (an expensive option for family history researchers).
You would be best to ask for someone who is planning a visit soon to a Scotland Peoples Centre to look the marriage up for you - all records right up to date can be viewed at a centre.
