1881 Lost Family
« on: Sunday 08 February 15 17:31 GMT (UK) »
Hi there

Trying to find a Charles Meyrick and family in the 1881 census. I have them in the 71 and 91 census but they seam to be hiding in 1881.
Charles born 1840 in Dawley. wife Elizabeth born 1840. Children, Thomas, George, Ernest and John.
Could someone find time to have a look please.

regards IJL

as for your original query ?? I can't find them in 1881 either - as a Malster, could he have gone to Scotland to brew Malt Whisky for a couple of years ?have you looked for them in Scotland or Ireland ???....we know the family are in Dawley as late as 16th April 1879 ...

The 1881 census was not very competently done in Shropshire, particularly the areas of Ford, Forden and Worthen. There are quite a few anomalies and omissions.
In addition areas were changed , sometimes they were in Ford and others in Worthen!
In Crowsnest Dingle, the houses on  one side were in  one and  those on  the other side the other--.
Just thought that bit of info might   be of some help. Viktoria.
