McKEEVER & McDAID
« on: Tuesday 10 February 15 15:51 GMT (UK) »
Looking for assistance in tracing details for Patrick McKeever's parents and Sara McDaid's parents. Patrick and Sara were my great grandparents.
Patrick & Sara were married 3rd Feb 1883 in RC church, Eskiheen, Donegal.
Patrick's parents were James McKeever & Hannah Jane Kane.
Sara's parents were Neil McDaid & Rose Ann McGowan
I'd be grateful for any help/advise
Thanks
Pauline :)

Just wondering, where did the mothers' details come from? (marriage details at most would generally only have identified fathers)

BTW, siblings to Sara McDaid:

Hi Gaffy,
Thanks a bunch for this info. I got the mother's names via my sister in law who has already started research but we're stuck as to going back a bit more. I was over in Bekfast at PRONI and GRO but a couple of days is not enough to gather all the info, I hope to go back soon.
Thanks again for your help
Pauline😀

Lots of (free) Irish information is actually online  :)

Neil McDaid married Rose Anne McGowan
Henry (born 1864) https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FPTR-ZPD
Mary Jane (born 1867) https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FPYX-58X
Henry (born 1871) https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FPYP-THK

Civll registration of births started in 1864 so there could be older children. If Neil and Rose Anne were married in a Catholic ceremony before 1864 there will be no civil record and you'd need to search for church records.

Wonder if this is the same Neil McDaid?
"Administration (with the Will) of the personal estate of Neal M'Dade late of Drimnacanoo County Donegal Farmer who died 8 March 1890 granted at Londonderry to Rose M'Dade of Drimnacanoo Widow the Universal Legatee." Will mentions son Patrick and refers to other 'children.' More importantly, it gives you a townland to focus your search on.

I think 'Drimnacoo' might be Drumnacross?

Searching FamilySearch for the McKeevers brings up a couple of deaths in Pennsylvania which might be worth keeping in mind-

John McKeever (born c1854 Ireland, parents James McKeever & Hannah Kane)

Hannah McKeever (born c1861 Ireland, parents James McKeever & Hannah Kane)

Thanks SOooo much! This has given me lots of options to try and I'm very grateful. The bit that really sticks out for me is the deaths in Pennysylvania. My dad used to always tell me about an uncle John who went off to be a university lecturer there and he rhymed off the address of the university that they used to send letters too. No one else seemed to remember that but now I know it was true that he did go there. Sadly my dad is no longer here to remind me of the address but I'm hoping that I've written it down somewhere. Maybe I can look at shipping lists or similar for emigration. Lots to do, so excited! Thanks
