Brook, Thornhill
« on: Wednesday 11 February 15 17:45 GMT (UK) »
I am struggling with the Brook family of Thornhill, Yorkshire, and would appreciate someone with a different eye (or a different subscription) taking a look.
I have George Brook born in Thornhill in 1798.  He said, on the one census I can find that his birthplace was Overton, but that's next door to Thornhill.  His father was John Brook - no other information about him.  George married Mary Ann Kitson in 1827, but was widowed by the 1861, which is the only census I can pick them up on, and was a coal miner.  The couple had 4 children between 1839 and 1847 (John, Thomas, Elizabeth and Robert).
Where were they all before 1861?
I have tried looking for Brooke and Brooks as well.
Godden in East Sussex, mainly Hastings area.
Richards in Lea, Gloucestershire, then London.
Williamson in Leith, Vickers in Nottingham.
Webb in Bildeston and Colchester.
Wesbroom in Kirby le Soken.
Ellington in Harwich.
Park, Palmer, Segar and Peartree in Kersey.
