There's so many variations...
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

They are all variations

At a time when literacy was low the person writing the record wrote what he heard unless told otherwise as a rule

For Catholics records were written in Latin

Even surnames took variations with a change of clery etc.
Kearney & Bourke/ Johns & Fox/ Mannion & Finan/ Donohoe & Curley
Byrne [Carthy], Keeffe/ Germaine, Butler/ McDermott, Giblin/ Lally, Dolan
Toole, Doran; Dowling, Grogan/ Reilly, Burke; Warren, Kidd [Lawless]/ Smith, Scally; Mangan, Rodgers/ Fahy, Calday; Staunton, Miller
Further generations:
Brophy Coleman Eathorn(e) Fahy Fitzpatrick Geraghty Haverty Keane Keogh Nowlan Rowe Walder

Thank you all for the information!

I am getting used to all the different ways names and surnames are spelled. I would have never found my great grandfather's bapitism record (Eugenius Kane) as I "knew" him as Eugene (and at times Owen) Keane.

Again, thanks for the help.    :)
