Hello,
Just had a look at my CD of the Beetham Parish Registers (Cumbria FHS).  The two Ann Cornthwaites are there.
Ann Cornthwaite of Slackhead, age 88 (sic) buried 18 Nov 1844
Ann Cornthwaite of Milnthorpe age 90 buried 24 July 1851
Does that help?
Also checked my book on the Beetham MIs (again Cumbria FHS)- no Cornthwaites at all.

Thank you Frian.  I think that narrows it down to Ann of Milnthorpe dying in 1851, age 90.  Ann Pearson Cornthwaite was 80 during the 1841 census, so she'd be 90 in 1851.  I'll have to look at the 1841 census on Anc. at the library to definitely rule out the other Ann, but the 1851 date is looking good.

Remember ages on the 1841 census were rounded down to the nearest 5 so she could have been up to 84.

Thank you Sillgen, I didn't know that.  I'll have to look at the 2 censuses again.

It might be worth checking to see if either (or both) of the Ann Cornthwaites left a will/ letter of administration.  These would probably be at Preston in the Lancashire Archives (Richmond wills, Kendal Deanery).  There used to be a list on the internet of such wills compiled by the University of Central Lancashire, but it seems to have vanished......

Thank you Frian,
I'll try searching for some wills for the lot.  Although, since she is a "pauper" in 1841, I doubt Ann had much to leave.
