Before "The Croft" Mapperley?

I am wondering if anyone knows the name of the retreat for unmarried mothers before The Croft which was founded in 1966?

As The Croft was 'a pioneering scheme', surely that means that there was not another one before it?

My friend emailed them today and a lady said that the croft had been set up to allow mothers somewhere to stay to have a baby if not married but there was another either before or perhaps overlapping with the croft.
