Missing Grandad Leonard Follos Wednesbury
« on: Friday 13 February 15 13:07 GMT (UK) »
Hi there
I've got a lady from my Family History group who's looking for a birth Reg /Cert for her grandfather born 24.8.1905 .But I've checked all registrations Sep qtr 1905 for West Bromwich and nothing.

So can any one spot
Leonard Follos  born 24.8.1905 supposed parents Harriet Follos (born 1880 Tipton) and James Laffey

No father on Leonards marriage cert but supposed brother James Follos born 1904 does have a father James Laffey labourer deceased.James's birth cert names states James Follos late Laffy son to  single mother Harriet Follos .

Both boys with grandparents Sampson and Harriet Follos in Wednesbury 1911 ,no sign of parents.
Possible James Laffey born 1879 Bilston died Wolverhampton 1921 but not on 1901 and 1911 censuses.

Any ideas please.

What details were given on the "wrong" certificate? Could it be that Leonard was born to another of Sampson & Harriet's children, but was brought up together with James by his grandparents and came to regard him as a brother?

There does not seem to be an obvious death for that 'wrong' one (in this country), so would also be interested in the details.

If the "wrong" one has parents Joshua & Mary Ann, it may be that he turns up later as Leonard Fellows (in Wales).

Good Morning
Sorry to say I haven't seen the 'wrong' certificate .She said she had bought the one in Dec 1905 and the boy Leonard had appeared with his parents on the 1911 census .
I think your right and the Leonard Dec 1905 is the one with parents Joshua and  Mary Ann but I will check that again with her if she turns up next week. She 's new and they don't always come back, but then she did seem very keen.

The other children for Sampson and Harriet Follos nee Hills are Betsy 1870 ,Sampson 1872,Alfred 1874,Martha Ann 1879 Harriet 1880,Ann Elizabeth 1882,Emma 1885,Samuel 1887,Mary Ann 1890 and Rose 1892.

I'm working through them all at the moment to try and eliminate a few .

Thank you for all your efforts, please keep them coming.

ps I've now got it down to Betsey 1869/70 ,Martha Ann 1879 ,Harriet 1880,Emma 1885,Mary Ann 1890 and Rose 1892.
Finding their marriage is proving difficult with the different spellings.
