Patrick Mackle Ballymaguigan ... help solving a riddle needed.
« on: Tuesday 17 February 15 03:56 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

I'm hoping some fresh ideas might give me an insight on this one so here goes.

In my direct line is a Mary Lee who in 1921 marries a Thomas James Clements in Magherafelt dist.
at their wedding an Aloysius Mckee stands witness.

Mary Lee is actually baptised twice as is her sister Rachel and brother John. Once in Derry in 1897 and then a couple of days later in Tyrone. In Derry she is baptised as Mary Lee with an unknown father, in Tyrone she is baptised as Mary Mackle with Patrick Mackle listed as her father. We know that this is the same child as the same set of events occur with her sister Rachel and brother John. Also on her Tyrone record a note is later made of her marriage to Thomas Clements tying it all nicely together.

Patrick Mackle is proving hard to pin down.

There is a Patrick Mackle boarding with a Patrick Mackle and Ellen Mackle in the 1901 census. Ellen's maiden name is MCKEE giving a possible link to Aloysius MCKEE who is the witness at the Wedding of Mary Lee and Thomas Clements.

Perhaps another option is that Patrick Mackle the husband of Ellen is also the father of the illegitimate children? Is this why they continue having children but never live together or marry?

Any insights and thoughts would be warmly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Donna

Do the birth registration records throw any light on who the father of the children might be?

Are the 2 churches near each other? seems strange that an infant would be baptised in one place (nearer home/place of birth?) then taken any distrance away at a young age to be baptised again. What's the mother's name in both baptisms? is the birthdate mentioned?

Have you found the birth registrations? I found a Mary Lee born 10 Nov.1897 Magherafelt district with mother's name Donnelly but not sure if that's your Mary Lee.

Have you found the family in 1901 and 1911 census records yet?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Hi,
I'm new to this forum and I have just read your post.  I have relatives that are Mackle & McKee in the same family line.   I have  Lucinda ? & Daniel Mackle marrying & have at least 4 children.  Could you please advise if these are somehow linked to what you are looking for.

Hi Oneday,

If they are living in the same area there is a chance they may be related however there are a lot of Mackles in this part of the world I have learnt.

Unfortunately I have very little information on my Patrick Mackle as I have only traced him as a lodger in the census and have no idea who is parents or family are as yet.

Can you tell me more about your Mackles? I may be able to help.

My Mackles come from:

Lucinda Young b 1888 Married Daniel Mackle b 1881  Their parents were: Margaret Doyle & Archibald (Big Archy) Young.

Lucinda & Daniel had the following children minimum:  Silvestra b 1915; ?; Mary Veronica b 1915?; ?.
(The question marks are for names not yet found out).

Lucinda's siblings were:  Patrick, Bernard, Mary Anne, Margaret, William, James, Catherine, Archibald born between 1872 & 1893.  I can be more specific if you wish.

I have limited details of some of their children.

I am also needing more details of their great grandparents:  Ludovic & Esther (Essie) Doyle b abt 1786-1789.
Lucinda's grand parents were Samuel Doyle & Mary Ann Lennox

The Youngs include Bernard (as above).  Bernard Married Mary Brannigan in 1905 in Durham England.

They had Margaret, Silday, Bernard (who married Mary McMaster) & Catherine.

I hope this helps some.

I have no lineage to follow on my Mackle side as it was all a bit hush hush within the family :)

Its likely that there's a link somewhere but for the moment unless any records turn up that help its impossible to track down :)

All northern Ireland.

Mainly Ballymaguigan Magherafelt.  It also looks like I have some Lee's in the family line.

Pm me to discuss further.
