What has happened to Edwin?
« on: Wednesday 18 February 15 11:52 GMT (UK) »
Edwin Pitcher born 1831 Thornbury. Parents Jonah and Sarah Pitcher. Siblings George b 1833 and Andrew b 1840.

Edwin is living at home with his parents til 1851 then disappears. I have searched FreeBMD for a marriage or death with no luck.

Any help would be appreciated.

Jonah Pitcher in the England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations), 1858-1966

Jonah  Pitcher  died  26 June 1881 ,   Administration of Will  with  2 Codicils to  George Pitcher  son

Maybe  getting   the  Will   may    offer some  info  re Edwin ,    I see  George  is  second son ,  I  would have thought   that  if  Edwin was still  around he'd be  mentioned   also

Just on the off chance, I had a look at Forest-of-Dean.net. Thornbury is South Gloucestershire so not part of FoD. However Site does overflow boundaries as it has to.

I found Pitcher's. An Edwin is not there, but Jonah and Sarah as parents are, and two children. There's nearly three pages of Pitcher's. Closest entries are Falfield, and that is close to Thornbury.

Might be worth your while having a look. You will need to join up, only personal details and an e-mail address. log in and go to main page, click resources and then parish registers. Enter Pitcher and tick Soundex, 1840 + or - 20 years, all events and the three pages will come up.

Thanks for the advice.  I am a member of the forest of dean site but waiting for them to send me my password as I had forgotten it.  Have a feeling Edwin has died.  The younger brother Andrew dies in 1896 in Barnwood asylum.  Found a probate for him naming just brother George.

Yes, I moved on for the later period and nothing came up for Edwin.

I think that is likely to be this one from 1881 (and later censuses)
