Thought  I'd be  clever  and looked at 1911   as  a E Pitcher  was appearing  on the Summary notes ,  only  to find  that   the name  was for  a  female !      Nothing  is appearing for  an Edward     Pitcher either  , as  sometimes  Edwin/Edward    names  are the same  person  ........

Been looking at "Find a will site"  for brother George who died in 1916, he had no children. Probate to a James Jones, grocer.

Either Edwin died or went aboard.

Father Jonah was a farmer of 8 acres but his sons were only Ag labourers so what happened to the farm?

He was probably a tenant farmer?

Are you sure? Looking at the Find a Will site he is described as a Yeoman and left £923, which was quite a bit in 1916, so not your average Ag Lab. How do you know he had no children, have you found him in the censuses? Probate was granted to James Jones, that only means that he was granted probate to deal with the estate, not that he inherited the money.

Just a thought - There is an Edwin Pitcher(Transcribed as Edwad) age 20 on the passenger lists for Aus in 1852 although his name and adjoining passengers have been crossed through  :-\

He sailed from Plymouth on the Apolline and arrived on 25 Oct 1852  at Port Phillip Bay, Australia listed as a labourer

The George whose will you have found  fits with a George Pitcher born Whitfield, Gloucestershire and living in Falfield in the census before he died. So may not be yours.

This is him in 1901 RG13; Piece: 2412; Folio: 69; Page: 4

George Pitcher   67  living on own means    Whitfield
Susana Pitcher   58 wife                             Falfield
