Do you have Margaret's maiden name from Carrie's birth or marriage certificate?  I can then look her up on earlier censuses for you

Yes, I know Margaret's Maiden name was Miller.  I noticed on the 1901 census, the two oldest children are not mentioned, John and Maggie, John would have been 17 and Maggie 15, maybe they were out of the house and working.

Looking at the 1871 - there is no entry for Margaret with a birthplace of Latheron but there are 2 entries with a birthplace of Wick

Only one family is living in Latheron and given the fathers name here - I wonder if she could be this entry
