McEvoy family of Dunlavin / rathsallagh
« on: Friday 20 February 15 02:43 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I am looking for a McEvoy family from the above area. My great great grandfather was Thomas Ernest McEvoy. His parents were David McEvoy and Mary Hayden.
He joined the RIC and was stationed in Portglenone in NI befor eemigrating to Australia with his wife Charlotte Ennis.
Appreciate helo finding the McEvoy family descendants in Dunlavin area. He had one brother and 3 sisters according to his 1908 will.
Thanks.

There is only one David McEVOY listed on the Griffiths Valuations in Dunlavin c1850

There are four children born to David McEVOY and Margaret (not recorded) baptised in Dunlavin
1831 bap Jul 31 1831 Thomas
1836 bap Apr 17 1836 David
1839 bap Jun 29 1838 Judith
1839 bap Feb 09 1839 Elenor

1901 census return of a David McEVOY in Dublin with his mother (only 16 years older?) as a butler is a possible connection

This may be of help

That David and Mary Anne MvEvoy appear to be a couple not mother and son,who ever transcribed it said son but does not appear on the original the word ''nil '' is down for relationship.

I believe that the names of Thomas Ernest McEvoy's siblings were - David, Mary, Ellen & Julia. In 1909 in Thomas' will, he lists these names of his siblings in Co Wicklow.
The death registration listed
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FRVF-JZ6
could well be Thomas' brother David.

A David McEvoy married Mary Anne Kelly in Rathdown in 1868
http://www.irish-genealogy-toolkit.com/Ireland-civil-registration.html
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FY93-N3X

they in turn appear to have a son David Joseph born 1870
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FPRQ-429
who married Mary Florence Bourke in 1894
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FYH5-S24
they in turn had a son David Joseph in 1898
http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/b6cd960134544
1901
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Dublin/Mountjoy/Richmond_Place/1326242/
which is only a short walk from David the Butler's address
however some where between 1901 and 1909 David Joseph died and his wife Mary Florence remarried to a Robert Monteith in 1909
1911

Only a copy of the 1868 marriage in Rathdown would prove if this is the right family.
