marriage help needed- Margaret Morrison Brown in 1881- completed

Have been going around in circles trying to find a marriage listed here-
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FYWW-1PD

Searching GRONI's database with all sorts of criteria doesn't show a match and neither does Emerald Ancestors' free search.

Margaret Morrison Brown was baptised 14 Feb.1858 at Ballykelly Presbyterian Church with birthdate given as 27 Dec.1858. Newspaper announcement (Londonderry Sentinel, 25 Dec.1857) gives birthdate as 19 Dec. which is likely to be more accurate and residence as Tullyhoe.
The only sibling I can find is Hannah Brown (born 1865) who married Robert White.

Parents George Brown, farmer, and Rebecca Clements were married 29 Aug.1859 Myroe Presbyterian Church- marriage record gives George's residence as Roscanghan and newspaper announcement says Tullyhoe. From memory I think the townlands march. I did find a William Brown in Rascahan from 1860-c1885. Have not been able to find any other children or what happened to the parents.

Would greatly appreciate help find this marriage to see if I can find further details of the family.

Marriage seems to have been to a Samuel M'Clay but like you, not finding same on GRONI.

Thanks for checking but that brings up another problem  :-\

Found this Samuel McClay in 1901 & I was very hopeful when I saw daughter called Rebecca but wife's name is Nancy- her maiden name Austen- and they were married before 1881.

GRONI has a Margaret Brown marrying  Hugh Hamilton on 21 November 1882.  Looks like another family wedding on the same day.

Hi

If the marriage from scotsmum is correct then I can see a possible link to a family tree in Australia, unfortunately I don't have full access to the record, its for a Rebecca Clementine Waddington, born 1886, her father was a Samuel McClay and mother was a Margaret Browne. She was married in Queensland Australia in 1911, so perhaps her parents emigrated shortly after marrying? Long shot I know but someone with full access to record may be able to shed more light

Sounds like a very interesting possibility- Clements was a family surname and Rebecca has been used in that family since at least the early 1800s. Will have a look for them in Australian records.

YES  ;D YES  ;D YES  ;D

Queensland records are very good and didn't take long to find this death-

1907 Margaret Morrison McClay parents- William Brown & Rebecca Clements

Am now off to see if I can find not just the McClays but the Browns!
