India: copy of Mothers Birth certificate born 1927

Hi,
    I am trying to get a copy of my mothers birth Certificate. She was born in India in 1927 of an English/Irish background (British subject) and is still living - this time in Australia. The family has been in India for several generations. I have applied to the GRO office in the UK but they can't find any information.

    Can anyone advise me who else I can contact or what to do next?

British India Office...bmd records are searchable on FindMyPast.

      I'm not a member of any family search app - e.g. Ancestry, FindMyPast, etc.

      I have also checked in FamilySearch without finding any information.

      I have contacted our Consulate General of India in Sydney and they only arrange copies of birth certs for those with India passports and were most unhelpful.
