James Hogg Christina Paterson married 1817.
« on: Thursday 26 February 15 10:21 GMT (UK) »
Hello. I am looking for my ggggrandfather James Hogg. Here's what I have compiled to date; I'm about 75% sure I'm on the right track.
James Hogg born about 1798 in Scotland, possibly died 10-11-1882
Had a son, James born 1825 who married Louisa Cheatham and lived in Ohio. Died 1875

The older James is listed in the Rutland, Meigs, Ohio 1880 census at 82 years of age living with daughter Margaret Davidson (aged 56)
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to Rootschat.

The Family is on the 1850 Census in Rutland, Meigs, Ohio.
James HOGG, 52
Christiania, 50
Margret, 28
Jane, 22
Martha, 9
All born Scotland

So if you are lucky they should be on the 1841 Census in Scotland.

Trish :)

Skoosh, Why did you post Thomas Hogg under my request. I've been away for awhile, but have been doing research and can't find a connection to James Hogg. Any suggestions? Thank you.

OH, not a common name in Ross-shire, see also "Hogg's in Cromarty" thread on here. A better prospect for research than Ross, Munro or Mackenzie therefore.

Skoosh.

Hello... I am looking for my ggggrandfather James Hogg and his wife Christina. I posted earlier (see below) and was able to identify his wife:

James married Christina Paterson (father Alexander) on November 11, 1817

Does anyone know where I might continue my search? Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Hi OH,

Where did James & Christina marry, how old were they when they married (if known), what was his occupation....age can be guesstimate from ages on death.

When/where/who were their children in order of birth with ages?

Have you found them on census records?
