Underwood/simmons/hesketh Gt Yarmouth, Norfolk
« on: Friday 27 February 15 19:14 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking for any info on my great grandmother Nellie Underwood. I think she was born in Gt Yarmouth, Norfolk around 1910. She married my great grandfather James Hesketh who I believe was from the Liverpool area? I think that Nellies father was called George Charles Underwood abt 1888 and her mother was Louisa Simmons abt 1890, both possibly born in Gt Yarmouth? I would love to hear more about all these people if it's possible, I have a little more information, but not really a lot.
I hope to hear from you.
Scott.

This is amazing, thank you so much! :) is there any way if knowing if this louisa simmons is the one who married George Charles Underwood? The name Gertrude appears as a middle name for Louisa on some records, but not all of them. Am I safe to believe that she didn't use it all of the time and it's the same person? Or am I looking at two different people? I hope this makes sense! :P
Scott.

Hi

Its hard to say that it's the same person but from some of the info given I would say it's her. We are not allowed to do look ups but from the 1911 census when she is marries she gives her place of birth as Great Yarmouth.

In the 1901 census she is staying with her sister Nellie ( Ellen) in Great Yarmouth, all birthdates and places of birth fit, but has a middle initial of H

1901 census : Great Yarmouth : 133b Black ? ? Pl.

Frederick Haggate  hd mar 25 milkman   bn Plumstead
Nellie                      wf     "   28                   " Chatham Kent
LOUISA H SIMMONS sister 12                   " Norfolk Yarmouth

Class: RG13, Piece: 1809,  Folio: 182,  Page: 15.

Thank you for you reply. Yes it's difficult to say, I have never seen the middle initial of 'H' before, all the records I've found say born about 1887 or about 1890. The one for 1887 says Getrude as a middle name but the one for 1890 doesn't say anything as a middle name, yet it has my great grandmother and both my gg grandparents on it so I'm pretty sure that's the right record. The one for about 1887 is for Louisa Gertrude Underwood and it's a death record for 1974 in Gt Yarmouth. I just don't know if it's the same person or not. It's so difficult.
