Hi

No problems.

Does this give further clues?

20 April 1953, Glen Line Ltd, "Denbighshire",

Singapore, Mr Jack A Piper, 27, 59 Wood Lane, Sonning Common, Oxon
Singapore, Mrs Betty M Piper, 24, 59 Wood Lane, Sonning Common, Oxon

Country of future intended PERMANENT (ie 1 year or more) Residence = "MALAYA"

There is a death, not that far away from Devon . . . .
Jack A Piper (Birth abt 1904)
Sep 1968 (64y) Portsmouth Vol 6b Page 505

There is also a Piper family in Devonport on 1911

But, as you say, nothing.

Have you tried searching the Singapore Newspapers?

FREEBMD Lists

I can confirm he sailed from the UK to Singapore at least three times , 20.4.1953  from London, 9.11.1956 from Southampton  &  22nd April 1960  also from Southampton
His birthday given as  29th Aug 1925  and is listed as an Engineer

If he worked as an engineer for a particular company, it might be worth trying to contact the firm's archivist......
This site has some information on the firm

I think Southampton Archive will hold dome info. See here
