Blackhill street help
« on: Saturday 28 February 15 20:39 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone,

I was wondering, does anyone know where Railway Terrace was in Blackhill? And how would I go about finding who was living in the street in 1920 - 1923?

Thanks,
emfranky.

Lowdon (from Edmundbyers, Durham; Mickley, Northumberland)

In Horton, Northumberland: Davison, Beecroft (previously from Houghton-le-Spring).
In Sunderland, Durham: Hunter, Watson (also of Wallsend, Northumberland; Blackhill, Durham)

Railway Terrace was in the vicinity of Beattie Terrace and Hawthorn Terrace see the map at http://maps.nls.uk/view/101099573#zoom=5&lat=4313&lon=5927&layers=BT

It is probably the row of houses between Hawthorn Terrace and the railway.

The 1976-77 OS plan shows Railway Terrace is the row of houses between Hawthorn Terrace and the railway. The North Eastern PH is on the north corner at the junction with Hawthorn Street. https://www.old-maps.co.uk/index.html#/Map/409995/551638/13/101329 (you may have to zoom out)
