your best bet would be to wait till someone with more knowledge of wills and administrations reads this post and can advise you better. I personally have never dealt with anything like this so would not feel safe on telling you which box to tick.

As a rule letters of Administration are taken out when there is no executor appointed or if there is no will. It can be done by next of kin or a solicitor.
I haven't been able to see the reference in the calendar to see if there is more information. Can you post a link.

thanks annclare

Here's the link

http://www.nationalarchives.ie/search-the-archives/

If you type William Fitzpatrick into the search, its item no. 60

I am interested in purchasing it, but I am not sure how much information it would give. It could be very valuable to my research or give very little

Had to do my shopping hence delay in replying . I had a look at the info. on the Calendar and I suspect there wasn't a will. If you look at the entry of Thomas Fitzpatrick just before William's it says Grant of Administration (with will) probably infers the executor had died before the deceased or was unwilling or unable to act as executor - but there was a will in this case.

William's just says Administration of the Estate etc. really giving his daughter permission to pay off bills and deal with his other affairs- access bank accounts etc.. I have seen some of these Grants of Administration and they just detail amount of estate with very little other information - but again I could be wrong!!

Right, so after some researching, I have discovered that William and Bridget had a total of 17 children over the course of their life, from 1879 to 1904. The figure of 12 total children on the 1911 census is not accurate.

5 of them are confirmed to have died by 1901 and Ellen, Gertrude and Frances never married, for they are still spinsters by 1933, the year William died.

I have not found a single marriage for any of the children

have you checked out the Timothy Fitzpatrick age 27 Overseas military 1911 (not allowed make links to English census here) there does not seem to be a man by that name on the 1901 census of Tipperary other than your Timothy.

Hello

William is still living with his parents in 1911, Edward is overseas in the military and the Timothy you found looks like him, though Roserea, I don't think he was born there
