Yes, sadly I am led to believe the 1861 census return for Bromlow is missing.  The 1851 census gives Worthen as his place of birth and the marriage certificate "Hemford Lane" (the same for his bride, Elizabeth Perkin).

I have just uncovered another possible record for the father John Watkin.   A John Watkin, widower and labourer, married Sarah Bromley, spinster in Llanrhaiadr Ym Mochnant Dec 25th 1847.   Her address at the time was "village" presumably Llanrhaiadr Ym Mochnant and his Priddbwll, Llansilin.   Although no further forward in terms of elimination or not as I cannot find them at the moment post the marriage! I think she was the daughter of William Bromley labourer and his wife Margaret.   There is a baptism in Llanrhaiadr Ym Mochnant on 2nd Mar 1828.

Hi again

thank you for all this work.  I do appreciate it.

I have seen the Richard Watkins baptism in Llandyssil and cannot dismiss it, if for no other reason than Susannah (or Susan) is a consistent naming convention of daughters on this family line up to and including my grandmother's generation (as are John, Charlotte, William and Richard).
I need to get back to searching those parish records again.

Given those family names have you noticed the "coincidence" in the following records:

1841 HO107/1435/2/30/18
William(1816) and John(1826) Watkin at the Gittins farm in Llanfyllin.

1851 HO107/2499/270/7
Jane Watkins(1829) at the same farm

1851  HO107/2499/64/20
Catherine Watkin(1836) at the farm of William Watkin(1815).Catherine,however is not given as a relative, just a servant.

Regards
Roger

Hi Roger

I have not had time to return to my search since the last post so have not looked at this in any detail yet.   I will, however, check my notes and indeed if not already eliminated will look at it again.

Many thanks.
