Lawrence Lewis and Elizabeth Box.

Lawrence Lewis was born in approximately 1772 (in Foreign Parts according to the 1841 Bristol census) and was a publican.

Sometime or other he married Elizabeth Box - born in Bath in approximately 1793 - the daughter of William Box (surname might be Bose or Rose - but does look like Box on her 2nd marriage to my Gt-Gt-Gt-Gt Uncle Pellegrino Mazzei in 1852).

In the 1841 census there is a Caroline Lewis which looks like their daughter - born in Gloucestershire county in approximately 1826.

Lawrence died in 1851.

I can't find a marriage for Elizabeth or Lawrence, or baptism of Caroline.

I also can't find what happened to Caroline.

There may also have been other children?

I don't know what foreign part Lawrence came from either.

Hi Darin, could you post the marriage certificate that shows her maiden name so we can have a look? Also have you followed up on Lawrence's will?

Here is the part of the certificate that has the name Box.

I didn't realise Lawrence left a will - I will check this out thanks.

Hi Darin, sorry to be misleading, I can't see a will but there is an index to death duties for Lawrence Lewis to Elizabeth Mazzei, there well may be will, not sure where you look to find it.

I wonder if this is a son that I haven't traced as Elizabeth's husband died in 1851.

That would make sense why it is left to Elizabeth Mazzei.
