Hi,

Thanks for the names of Margaret's four brothers. That has confirmed the three I had and Patrick Joseph which I did not know about.

Margaret had a son three weeks before her marriage to Andrew Brand in 1932. This son is in his 80's and lives in New Zealand. He was brought up by John and Ellen O'Keeffe and did not find out until later in life that Margaret was his mother.

I did not have John & Ellen's son William who was born in 1928. They also had a son George born on the 7 March 1924 who only lived one day.

Thanks for your help.

Pauline

Hi dathai,

Thanks for your help in looking up the children of John and Annie O'Keeffe.

I agree Ellen is most likely the first daughter born in 1908 and I found a birth for Anne Christina born Jan-Mar 1910 in Dublin South which ties in with the death you found for an Anne aged 9 months in Jul-Sep 1910. Looks like they lost both children with in weeks of one another.

Thanks again

Pauline

Hi,

Trying to find out more about O'Keeffe line from Co Cork and Cullen line from Dublin. Have the following info s far but not sure how accurate this is.

The info I have for Annie Cullen is -

Anne Cullen (Annie Matie Josephine). Born 9 August 1885 staying at 1 Temple Bar (baptised 17 August) and died 1922 in Glasgow, aged 36.
Her dad was Patrick Cullen. Her mother was Ann Delaney/Delany. Married  5 October 1873 in St Andrews RC church, Dublin. Patrick staying in Rathfarnham. Anne staying 16 Fade Street. Patrick's father is Christopher Cullen. Anne's father is Jeremiah Delany. Anne Cullen Says on baptism certificate that father called Patricio Cullen and mother Ann Delaney. In 1901 Census looks like Patrick has died and Anne and her mother staying with Chrisopher Cullen. Says Anne junior 14 (Ann), her mother Ann 54 (down as widow) and Christopher 75 (Grocer's Porter) - staying at house 5.3 in Swifts Row (North City, Dublin).

The info I have for John O'Keeffe is -

John Joseph Francis O'Keeffe. Born Cork City (Died 1958, aged 72). Married Annie in 1907. Remarried Eileen Kerton (Partickhill, Glasgow, 1923). Eileen from From County Mayo. John's dad was Edward O'Keeffe (Housepainter). Died between 1901 Census and 1905). John's wife was Ellen Geary? - born Cork City circa 1870 (Remarried William Smith, around 1905). In 1911 Census George (16) and Patrick (9) still staying with her and child to William Smith (Ellen, aged 5).  In 1911.

Lost with O'Keeffe line i.e. line from Cork. Any info appreciated.

I believe from zooming the census form that Christopher Cullen is 25 not 75 and is obviously her son born 1876

Hello dathai & searchingfamilytree

searchingfamilytree I agree with all the information you have found. We both appear to have found all the same records. I have not found a birth or baptism for John O'Keeffe who was born in about 1885 in Cork as yet. John and Annie O'Keeffe had 8 children. Four born in Ireland and four in Scotland. John and Ellen O'Keeffe had three children. If you would like their names and births I am happy to give them to you.

dathai thank you for your help it is much appreciated. I had not seen the Prison record for Christopher Cullen. That would certainly be him as he was living in Swift's Row with his mother and sister on the 1901 census. You have given me lots of other places to search so thank you for that. It has been almost a year since I was searching this branch of the family so it will take me awhile to get my head around all my records again.

Thanks again

Pauline

Worth a gamble ?
I notice from the 1901 census that George O'Keeffe carries the initial N in his name
though i cant find a George born circa 1894 i  did find a Nicholas George O'Keeffe born Cork
Oct Dec 1894 vol 5 page 130
searched the 1901 census no Nicholas O'keeffe of that age in Cork.

might lead you to find place of baptisms.
