« on: Thursday 05 March 15 13:49 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking for information on a Thomas Brooks who I believe was born in Norwich, Norfolk around 1760. I think he married a lady by the name of Abigail Middleton. I think they were married in Gt Yarmouth, Norfolk. One of their children was called Dorcus Brooks, she was born I Gt Yarmouth, Norfolk.

Familysearch has a marriage in 1784
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-14264-12012-25?cc=1823613

and a baptism in 1789 for Dorcas
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NTQT-WNY

The marriage shows Thomas as a Widower

Does that mean that it was a second marriage for Thomas?

Yes, or maybe even a third  :)    Do you have his death, if so does it give an age.

Hi Scott, here is the burial of Abigail, 09/02/1812, it looks like that instead of wife it is
              abreviated as widow, http://www.rootschat.com/links/01evi/

Hi Berkeley,
Thank you for finding that, does that mean that Thomas would of already passed away by that point?

Hello Scott,

There are two burials for Thomas Brooks in Great Yarmouth in 1806, both married men.

One buried aged 57 (born 1749), the other aged 72 (born 1734)

I couldn’t find a baptism for a Thomas born 1734 in Yarmouth, but there is one for 1749 -
son of Thomas and Dorcas, 2 April 1749

As Thomas called his daughter Dorcas in 1789, this is a good possibility.

Hello Yorkslass,
Thank you for this information :) so if I've understood this correctly, you think that Thomas and Dorcas could of been the parents to the Thomas Brooks who married Abigail middleton and that could possibly be backed up further with the fact that he named his daughter Dorcas, possibly after his mother? I'm sorry, but this gets so confusing for me  :D
