Unexplained disappearance of William Rickard b1834

According to the 1841 UK Census, William and his parents were resident of Cross Poor House in the Civil Parish of St. Stephens in Brannel Cornwall.   William seems to reappear on the 1881 census living at Treviscoe Downs in the Ecclesiastical Parish of St. Stephens in Brannel.  Even searching outside of Cornwall, it would appear as though the family disappeared from the UK.   I would welcome any suggestions as to where to look next.   Thank you in anticipation.

What was William's occupation? If he was a miner they emigrated to anywhere where the was a mine. Durham, England, USA, South Africa, Australia, South America. You name it. They emigrated there. My solitary Rickard was a female and she ended up with her husband on the Yorkshire and Derbyshire coal fields.

Based on the 1881 census you found when William Rickard living as a widower and with children in St Stephens -this looks like him in early census years  all born in  the parish
