Hi, could someone please help me look up the names of my gg grandparents, parents.

Looking for the names of William Georges' parents.

Hi there,

There's actually 3 William George's - my gg greatgranfather William George born in Flamstead and one in Redbourne, who is his father. I'm trying to find the next William George born in the 1780's maybe. I don't know who the mother is, so it makes it hard to find, for me anyway.

Yeah I've tried various searches, but haven't come up with much. I will keep an eye on find my past, thanks

As you haven't found the baptism for William George bc.1802 Redbourn how do you know that his father was also named William??

Parish records for Redbourn are on Ancestry and there are no George baptisms around the relevant time!  So even though he believed he was born there (and perhaps he was) he was baptised elsewhere.

Could be this one:

William George bp.2/3/1800 Little Gaddesden, Hertfordshire son of William George and Elizabeth Simmonds.

William George married Elizabeth Simmons 6/1/1792 Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.

All these places close to each other.

Hi Annette, yes I saw that name from Gaddesden.
William was just a wild guess because the name has been used quite frequently in my family tree.
I have William George in the 1841 Census aged 35 yrs so he would have been born in 1806. But in 1851,61 & 71 his age should be 45,55, 65 but he has changed it to  49, 59, 69 which means he would have been born in 1802. He was born in Redbourn, Herts. My great grandfather, his son, was born in Flamstead, Herts. So I wonder if the Gaddesden William could be the first William's father.
Would his birth records show his mother and father's info on it? I'll keep looking and thanks for the help :)

Adult ages on the 1841 census were rounded down to a multiple of 5 years! ;D
So, if he was actually 39, his age would have been rounded down to 35.

How frustrating, I spent the weekend on Find My Past, trying to look for the correct William George and felt like I got nowhere. The Census records claim that he was born in 1802 apart from the first Census - 1841 which makes his birth out to be 1797. There were so many Williams, but none born in Redbourn or in 1802, just a year or two off. It was always Hemel Hempstead or Little Gaddesden. I just don't know which one. I tried to look through the Parish registers for other siblings, but found that I was getting even more confused. Gosh there were a lot of Williams and Elizabeths at that time. I am stuck, please guide me and help :-[. All I know is that this George family was from Flamstead, Hertfordshire. What do you think? By the way, what are Marriage Banns?

Cheers
