Michael McQueeney and Ann Mallin
« on: Saturday 07 March 15 01:01 GMT (UK) »
Hi
Would anybody have any information on my 2nd great grandparents Michael McQueeney born 1820 in Leitrim, Ireland, and died 1883 Hobart, Tasmania, Michael was a convict and was sentenced to 7 years and was transported to Tasmania on the ship "Lord Auckland" in 1846, he was pardoned in !851, he only served 4 years and 11 months. I don't know anything of his parents or siblings. Also his wife Ann Mallin born 1840 Leitrim, Ireland and died 1877 Hobart, Tasmania and I don't know anything of her parents and siblings either. Any information would be appreciated.
Thank you
Stephen

worth checking out ?

The tithe applotments 1829 to 1834 allowing for illiteracy etc shows the name McWeeny is common in Leitrim including a few Michaels.

while Griffiths Valuations show both versions McWeeny and McQueeny in Leitrim.

Hello,

I’ve been researching my family history and my grandmothers family have a Michael McQueeney from Leitrim, Ireland who came over as a convict who married Ann Mullin. All the dates match what you have provided, I’d love to get in contact.

I have some information on the family tree from their children down to my grandmother.
