Accidental death Mrs. Rose
« on: Sunday 08 March 15 13:53 GMT (UK) »
This is on a wish and a prayer.
I have a recollection of the death of a Mrs. Rose from Parkstone, Poole Dorset (Lilliput) Austin Av.
My memory tells me she fell of a step and died from her injuries around 1960 (ish). She was a young mother of 2 children (one of whom was a childhood friend on mine Anthony Rose)

Hoping to find something in the Bournemouth Echo or other local paper.

Any help appreciated

Richard

Thanks Rosie,

Doing that now.  Does not seem to be any Newspapers for Dorset/Hampshire for that time.

Wish I had a 1st name.  I do remember it being in the new at the time (only 12 then).

That's a pity you can't remember the first name maybe you could look for intimations to see if anything pops up  ???

freebmd shows these female deaths registered in Poole 1955 - 1969; I have removed any >60 yrs old & I would say if she was a 'young mother' then the 39 yr old Jun 1963 looks the most worth searching for in the newspapers.

Mar 1963

Jun 1963
ROSE    SYLVIA F    39    POOLE    7C   671

Thank you very much Josey,

I agree the 39 yr old is most probable.   I lost touch with my childhood friend Anthony when this happened and have never been able to locate him since.  Hoped the story in the newspapers might give me a clue to follow.

Much Appreciated

The Library at the Triangle in Bournemouth has a full set of papers from 1900.... of course, that's not very helpful if you're nowhere near that.  But they're not online.

Did they move or stay afterwards?

Have you trawled those sites with schools on them, e.g. friendsreunited?  You might be able to find other people you knew who are contactable/approachable enough for you to ask if they've any idea.

Facebooked his name?  Even if there are a few you might recognise him in some way from the photo (some people don't change too much).

Using freebmd, looking forward, looks like the father remarried in 1966 and died in 1969, aged 49.  No children on that site from the second marriage, which was in Poole.
Related to: Lots of people!
:)
Mostly Cambridgeshire, Huntingdonshire, some Kent and Dorset.

Thanks SC,

Yes I have tried Friends Reunited and Facebook.  They did move shortly after his mothers tragic death and my family moved a little while later so it has been rather difficult finding anything at all. I did hear a number of years later that he was living in the Westbourne area of Bournemouth. I have looked through phone books and even called some numbers where the names matched but nothing !
As you say being so far away now means going through archives impossible for me

My last shot was the Newspaper story and the hope it might contained information to help me find him.
The added problem is that if he is still alive any response provided here will be expunged by the moderator.

Thanks for the advice though.

Regards

Richard
