Just so. From the same Gazetteer: "ALYTH, a parish on the northern side of Strathmore, in the counties of Perth and Forfar; but chiefly in the former".

The county of Forfar, also formerly known as Forfarshire, is synonymous with (the county of ) Angus.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
