Registry of Deeds Henrietta St Dublin
« on: Thursday 12 March 15 10:48 GMT (UK) »
What information would one need when going to Registry of Deeds Henrietta St Dublin ?
Landlord name, lease holder surname, townland, civil parish

The family that I am researching have stayed in the same area, according to gravestone inscriptions.
The time period would be 1750 up to 1850

What much would search cost ?

Hi

Have you checked the Registry of Deeds project? They have transcribed a large volume of material from the deeds

A bit like asking "How long is a piece of rope?"... you could get 4 lines on a page or 3 pages for a person.

There are over 500 films at LDS which will give one an idea of how vast they are.

As far as I remember you can search indexes by year and address or by year and name.
You do all searching yourself and it is all free - no charge.  The staff are very helpful if you get stuck and generally will give you a quick crash course to start you off. For such a 'stuffy' old place it is remarkably informal.

Yes very helpful staff but as you say you have to search yourself... you have to find Index book for relevant years, note entries (Volume, entry no. etc) then get next one, then next one... searching the Index books year by year by year takes a lot of time between getting the Ledger, bring it to reading counter, returning it, getting next and so on.

If one has Death dates then they need to search Index for that year, maybe following year and next as some Wills/Deeds/Inheritances may not be Registered for years after Death... then depending on what, if anything is found one has to find correct Volume and look for entry.... one needs Death date at least or search all the Annual Indices.
