Husband on 1901 Census but not on 1911
« on: Thursday 12 March 15 15:05 GMT (UK) »
Hi Please can someone help me.

John Smith born 1868 Bucklow Northenden, Cheshire

1901 Census I found him living with wife Ann and family at 18 Royal Green Road, Bucklow, Northenden, Cheshire

1911 Census His wife Anne is living at the same address as she did in the 1901 Census, classed as married, but no mention of John Smith. If he had died surely she would be classed as a widow
I have tried searching for him but no luck. Thank you

What sort of occupation did he have?

Maybe he was away working.  You are right she should have been classed as a widow if he had passed away.

He could also have been in hospital or some other institution.
