Sorry it is bit late but I have been watching a recording of "Banished" and thinking of all the horrors that some of my "Parkhurst Boys" would have gone through, especially in Tasmania!!!

John MEAKIN, was tried at Nottingham Epiphany Sessions, aged 14, on 06/01/1851 for stealing cheese, although he had been previously convicted 4 times summarily and once for assault........his sentence 7 years transportation.   He was not transported, but eventually released on licence in 1855.  And putting aside my probable incorrect identification in 1837 from FamilySearch, that is all I know about him.

I think he may find a resting place in my "In tray".

So just to be sure, you have no known relationship to John Meakin?
