joseph dickinson and family
« on: Friday 13 March 15 14:58 GMT (UK) »
Still searching for any info on the wife of Joseph, bp 1803 birk heads, durham. he married elizabeth c1823 possibly newcastle.  according to the censuses elizabeth was bp c 1801 corbridge but years of searching have eliminated several possibilities.
also searching for any info on john and margaret (formerly barrass ) turnbull who were said to be the uncle and aunt of the orphaned joseph dickinson , bp 1847, and his brother richard.  this joseph and richard were the sons of william, bp 1832, the son of the first joseph and the mystery elizabeth.  ( can find the baptism of williams younger brother robert bp 1838, but no trace of his birth cetificate - any ideas ?? )
thank you in advance
regards
helen

Freereg has the birth of a Robert Dickison, Dec qtr 1837, Castle Ward, vol 25, p.169.

Coxlodge, where he appears to have been born, living there in 1841, was in Castle Ward District.

Elizth Dickenson, 23
William Dickenson, 19

Richard Dickenson, 13**** Is this Robert mistranscribed (down as Joseph/Elizabeths Son)

I am a bit confused by this you posted;
Quote;
.... joseph dickinson , bp 1847, and his brother richard....joseph and richard were the sons of william, bp 1832, the son of the first joseph and the mystery elizabeth

If this is true William 1832 would have been the Father of Joseph 1847 at age 15?
William is unm in 1851.

Trish :)

Possible Birth Reg;
Robert DICKINSON, June 1838, Hexham, 25 250

If they were living in Coxlodge when Robert was born, then the birth would not be registered in Hexham RD, but in Castle Ward.

Thank you all very much for all your helpful suggestions.
I managed to find the marriage of john turnbull to margaret barrass after following a very sideways route.
the marriage of joseph dickinson to elizabeth greener sounds possible. i will look into that, and also the birth of robert dickinson at castle ward. i dont think the one at hexham is the right one but i will investigate.

Regards

Helen green

dear wolfie smith and jen b ( and all the others who posted ideas )

what can I say.   YOU ARE BRILLIANT !  the suggestions you posted have broken down a brick wall in minutes that has taken me years !
I sent for the birth certificate of Robert Dickison from Castle Ward district.  It came this morning and it is the right one ! ( all that trying just for a spelling mistake in his surname ).

Now I am searching for the marriage of Joseph Dickinson and Elizabeth ARMSTRONG c 1824.

Thank you

Helen
