Janet Kinghorn BELL divr frm Pat BANWELL died Whitehorse 1984
« on: Friday 13 March 15 18:45 GMT (UK) »
Janet kinghorn BEll was born 1916 at Foulden Bastle, Foulden, Berwickshire to
Thomas BELL and Alice Ann YULE (married 1912 Edinburgh).

Janet lived in Earlston until she left for Canada at a date after 1945. She left behind a
son Alistair who grew up with his grandparents Thomas & Alice in Earlston.
it is beleived that Janet had a girl born in Oldham England and given up for adoption
before going to Canada

This girl baby made contact with the family in the 1980 or 1990's she was living in Ireland somewere. Unfortunately contact was lost.

I found Janet's death in Whitehorse Yukon Canada in 1984 shows her as divorced and her last name BANWELL.

Any information on Janets life  marriage abodes would be gratefully received.

Sandra , Thank you so much for your quick responses.

I now have a photo of her grave And we know she was in Whitehorse
in 1962. That narrows the gap a bit.

Hi,

Wonder if the Yukon Public Library would be able to help you. There is an e-mail address for them on this link.

Under what name did she travel to Canada? If she went at the end of WW2 could she have been a war bride?

 - it seems in 1969 her son was looking for her.  Describes her as known to be in Edmonton, Alberta, in 1960, possibly "in the company of" Mr Banwell.

www.lookandlearn.com/childrens-newspaper/CN540213.pdf
 - there was a Pat Banwell of Earlston, mentioned here in 1954.

Thank you for the links.

The Cord motor car suggests the Pat BANWELL who was a publican
was still in Earlston in 1954.

The second link was indeed her son's enquiry. He always thought
to his dying day, that she would come home to take hime away to a live of riches.

One of the sdaddest things I have seen is when Terrys mother "effects" were delivered to our house in Delta BC when Terry was here on holiday. He was never the same after this.
