1881 census has a Thomas Lewin, Ayston, 1875 with parents William and Sarah. Is that the one you are looking for?

Then I would think the most likely birth record for Thomas Lewin is Uppingham Q4 1874 vol7A page 287. You would be able to find out more about his parents by ordering the birth certificate.

If you are looking for his marriage and death, how did you get back to him, or is he just an off-shoot?

There are several Thomas Lewins born around 1875, so if he did not stay in the area there are several possible deaths.
