Hi thanks,would it be possible to find the1891 census for Penygroes,so we could see who lived in Rose bank,we would then be able to find the names of Hugh's parents and if he had any siblings.

 Registers at Bangor Gwynedd Reference CAE/38/E61
Courtesy of North Wales BMD if you want to apply locally for a certificate

Or from Freebmd.org.uk June quarter 1896 Carnarvon  vol 11b  p 787 if you want to go to the GRO for a certificate.
The certificate will give fathers name and  hopefully a " familiar" witness

 They  may not be here five years before, and you don`t know the names of Hugh`s parents.
There might be a Thomas family there, but they could be unrelated.
 Hugh Thomas is a common name and you need the right father.
marriage certificate is what you need.
