James Harries b1819 marriage request
« on: Sunday 15 March 15 10:41 GMT (UK) »
Would be grateful if anyone could help with tracking down a marriage between James Harries b1819 Pembroke and a lady called Anne b1824 (sorry no surname).  Not much more info I am afraid, except that James was working in Haverfordwest in 1841 (I think still single at that time).
thank you.

Do you have the dates for any of their children.  This might help in narrowing down the marriage dates. Also any census that show the family can provide valuable info to assist the search.
The spelling of his name "Harries" is that a variation of the name "Harris"?

There are 4 marriages in Pembrokeshire 1844 - 1854 when James Harries might have married an Anne.

Colin
Clarke, Trickett, Orton, Lawless, Norton, Detheridge, Kirby, Goodfellow, Wagstaff, Lowe, etc.

If I am looking a the same 1841 census, there would seem to only be one James Harries born 1819 in Haverfordwest, he was a Drapers jouneyman, not born in Pembrokeshire?

Good morning Richard many thanks for reply, in the 1851 census I can see the names of two children Sarah b1846 and James b1848 by this time it looks as though the family have moved into Glamorganshire.  Harries may be a corruption of Harris, as I look through the various census records it would seem that this happens quite often.  Also, I have been told that people were not always too accurate about birth dates!!  regards, Joy

Hello Colin, Appreciate your response, I have tracked the family down to Glamorganshire (1851 census) and there James gives Milford Haven as his birthplace.    By 1851 they have two children, Sarah and James. Any information you can give on web sites that may be useful to my search would be appreciate (I am still a beginner at family research). Many thanks, Joy

Joy both of the childrens births were registered at    MERTHYR TYDFIL, there is a possible marriage registered there James Harris to either Ann Thomas or Ann Price in 1844.

Joy,

You might have to order a birth certificate for one of the children to get James's wife's name.  If you are confident you have the correct family from the Census.
