Higgins of Thurles
« on: Sunday 15 March 15 20:23 GMT (UK) »
Hello I am researching my father's family his mother was Margaret Higgins of Thurles. Margaret was born June 1902. I believe her mother was Johanna Doxey 1866, her father was Daniel Higgins 1865-1908. if anyone has any information please let me know

Yes I believe that it is the family. in the 1911 census the age is right and I do know she had a sister Alice. I can not account why there is a name difference.

It must have been a pet name or perhaps she is Margaret Grace.
This looks like her birth

No sign of a Grace.

Daniel's age in 1901 is transcribed as 34 but if you look at the image of the original I think it is a 30 with the 0 crossed out and a 1 added, if I'm correct this looks like his birth.

To be sure of all this it would be best to get some certs.
Margaret's birth. Fathers occupation would confirm if it is the correct family in the Census.
Alice as well perhaps to check parents match. https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FBLS-WY4
Assuming the parents are correct than the marriage would give fathers names.
Than the parents births would give mothers names.

If everything works out you may be able to get back further from there.

Research/photocopy Certs cost €4 each.

If you include your email they will send Certs that way but they must be ordered by post or fax.
