Puzzle of Will for James Botting of Cowfold
« on: Monday 16 March 15 14:02 GMT (UK) »
Can someone help me solve a puzzle please to identify the people in a Will I discovered, and see how they fit into the Tree I am researching, as I am sure they must do.  I will attach a copy of the details.

In my Tree there is Ann Kensett (Born 1779 Shipley) who married James Turner (Born 1773) Farmer, in Nuthurst in 1803.  Now clearly the James Turner mentioned in the Will is this James Turner and the Phillip Kensett is perhaps Ann's brother ?   But I cannot find anything to identify how they all fit together !   I haven't come across anyone by the name of Botting before in my searches.

Can the very clever brains who help on this site help sort it ?

I presume the Will is from 1808?

So Phillip Kensett and James Turner were his Brothers in Law.
So you know James Turners wife was Ann Kensett and that takes care of one Brother in Law.
We just need to know who James BOTTING/BOTTEN Married ie Elizabeths maiden name!

Baptisms;
BOTTEN,
St Peter, Cowfold, Sussex to JAMES/ELIZABETH Botten,
JAMES, 09 Feb 1787
ELIZABETH, 30 April 1788
RICHARD, 29 Sept 1789

Phillip KENSETT may have married a few times.

Possible Marriage 9 Sept 1804 Billinghurst to Jane TURNER
+ Trees have him marrying Jane RHODES 1832
He is on the 1841/1851 Census, 1851 age 82 with Wife Jane age 39 and young Children!

This is interesting;
Christening;
James BOTTING or KENSETT, 10 Sept 1820, Itchingfield, Sussex
Mother JANE Botting or KENSETT

1851 he is calling himself James K Botting

Maybe someone else can help as my brain is a bit addled its late here in OZ :)

Roots people seem to have so many avenues to access to find out FH infomation !  Many thanks  for trying to help me solve this puzzle.  My brain is frazzled as well - I am trying to sort out lots of similar names on a FT , for about 3 generations, and it is not even my direct line !   The information given on your 2nd entry looks so confusing  - maybe I will just ignore James Botting of Cowfold !
