A William Sands, convict, married an Ann Wilson, convict, on the 6 February 1854 in Oatlands, Tasmania.

William became a Policeman, was a bad boy a few times, but Ann  - disappeared.

Any information as to what happened to the pair of them after the marriage would be gratefully acknowledged.

Kind Regards,

Kaysands :)

Hi majm

Thank you for your reply.  We have all of that info, as William is my husbands G.Granddad.  It is Ann who I am looking for.

William ended up with another female in 1855, never married her, so Ann either ran away or just did not want to live with him.

I also have that link that you sent.

Thanks once again

Regards,
Kaysands

Of course,  but I was popping it there to help our fellow RChatters, as the info re ship of arrival, and their ages can be helpful in locating them.

So you are looking for Mrs W Sands between Feb 1854 and sometime in 1855.... are you sure the second lass was not Ann .... perhaps using a different given name to avoid her origins after the ceasation of transportation to VDL....  lots of name changes in that era.... even the colony changed its name  :)

In case Ann died on the mainland it might help to know that she said that her father's name was 'Josh', so either Joseph or Joshua.  She was still serving her sentence until June 1856 when she was granted an early conditional pardon.

She had a trade ….. Shoe Binder.
http://search.archives.tas.gov.au/ImageViewer/image_viewer.htm?CON41-1-34,223,214,F,60

Her native place recorded as  Farringdon  … perhaps this would be Farringdon,  Islington, London as her trial was at Westminister.

If she went to the mainland, then I would expect details about her parents and her origins and length of time in the colonies, and her marriage/s  could be found on her death registration.

Hi majm

Once again, thank you.

I have bad eyesight and I find that some of the digitised records can be faint and blurry, so I have trouble sometimes reading them.  I thought it was Farrington Street, so thanks for that.

I have a bit more info about her, so once again thanks to you all.

Regards

Kaydands. :-\
